Good headway is being made with the construction of the Waihi to Athenree section of the East Coast Main Trunk railway line, a stretch of about eight miles. The permanent way has. been laid for a distance of two miles from the Waihi end, and as soon as the girders have been placed in position on the bridge over the Waimata Stream, the plate-laying gang will be able to push on to the gorge about a mile this side of Athenree.
