SUICIDE IN AMERICA.
VICE-CONSUL'S SECRETARY. FORMERLY IN AUCKLAND. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. (Reed. 8.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 7. A message from North Dakota states that Mr. G. H. Richardson, formerly secretary to Mr. K. de G. McVitty, United States Vice-Consul at Auckland, committed suicide on the train while en route to Washington. His relatives declare that they believe he was temporarily deranged through over study. The body is being sent to the parents in San Francisco.
The late Mr. Richardson, who was a native of California, was recently stationed in Auckland as secretary to the Vice-Consul for the United States. He left about two months ago in order to attend examinations in Washington with the object of qualifying for the Consular service. He was about 24 years of age.
