SPECIAL SERVICE FLEET
TOO MUCH HOSPITALITY. SYDNEY FUNCTIONS CUT. ' A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, April 7. i At the suggestion of. Vice-Admiral Sir ! Frederick Field, commander of the British ! Special Service Squadron, the social func- ! tions proposed to be held in connection ' with the squadron's visit to Sydney have ; been considerably curtailed. j From re man tie onward there has been ' such competition in royally welcoming the I personnel of the squadron, from the Yice- ; Admiral downward, that Sir Frederick i was unwillingly compelled, in self-protec- ' tion, to put a curb on Sydney's threat- ■ ened exuberance, official and otherwise. [ The squadron has anchored at Jervis : Bay, where the ships will be polished up | prior to coming on to Sydney on Wednesi day. Many visitors from the district i towns have made a holiday in order to ! accord a great welcome to the ships.
