DEVELOPMENT OF LAND.

CONDITIONS IN ENGLAND. STATE CONTROL QUESTION. A. and N.Z. LONDON. April 4 In the House of Commons, the entire evening was devoted to an agricultural discussion. In the course of this Mr. Noel Buxton, Minister for Agriculture, threatened the possible reintroduction of the control of under-cultivated land. He said development was a catchword in agricultural policy. If £200,000 for cooperative organisation was an insufficient sum, his department would not hesitate to ask the Treasury for more. Something would be heard about State grants for sugar beet factories during th« Budget debate, said Mr. Buxton. He hoped there would be a definite period during which growers and workers, of the important beet industry would be assured of assistance.
