PIGEON RACING.
DOMINION HOMING club. The Dominion Homing Pigeon Club flew its race of the young bird series on Saturday', from Ohakune, and air-line distance of 185 miles. The birds were liberated by the stationmaater, Mr. Firman, at 9.30 a.m., in boisterous weather, making it possible for only the best birds to home. After a bard fly of t\ hours, the champion proved to be th© property of S. Crocker, whose blue cheq. hen, Amethyst, recorded the second win -of the season, with a velocity of 708 yards per minute. The following were the only birds to home in race time:— S. Crocker's b., c. h. Amethyst, 708 yards per minute, 3U J. Hipwell's b. v <s. h. Freckles, 706.6 yards, 2; L. Cantell's hi. c. h. Lady Bverton, 706.6 yards, 3.
