AUSTRALIA'S POPULATION.
MORE MEN THAN WOMEN. THE GAIN BY MIGRATION. According to the Commonwealth Statistician, the population of Australia at the end of last year was 5,749,607. Australia showed an increase for the year of 116,526. In New South Wales the increase was 36,513. From , migration New South Wales gained 3492, Victoria 16,497, Queensland 10,789, South Australia 4323, Western Australia 5283, and Tasmania 3370.
