NEW AVONDALE COUNCIL.
ELECTION IN TWO WARDS. POLLING NEXT SATURDAY. The adoption of the ward system in the Avondale borough necessitates the retirement of the present council, but not that of the Mayor. An election for the new council will be held next Saturday, and nomination of candidates dosed on Friday. There are three seat 3on each of three wards, but for the central there will be no election, the number of candidates not exceeding the number required. The following nominations have been received:— Central Ward.—Messrs. A. E. Blackman, G. A. F. Malcolm, and H. Potter (returned unopposed). North Ward. —Messrs. J. B. Clarke, E. Croft, G. R. Desmond, P. Haslam, G. F. C. Hoiking, and A. E. Lord. South Wacd.—C. D. Jones, J. V. Riesterer, A. E. Saunders, T. H. Spargo, P. Turner, and T. W. Wilson.
