HOCKEY.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. LAST YEAR'S ACTIVITIES. The twenty-first annual report of the Auckland Hockey Association, to be presented at the annual meeting at the Chamber of Commerce to-morrow evening, states that last season was all that could be desired, and the standard of play was excellent. _ There was a loss on the season's workings of £157,. due mainly to the fact that the association was unable to sublease the Remuera grounds during the turnmer. The incoming committee is recommended to discontinue the issue of players' passes and to charge all players above fifth erade an entrance fee of 6d each Saturday. This is expected to increase the revenue by over £100. Affiliated clubs increased in number from 13 to 17, primary schools from * to - 5, aid sub-associations from 9 to 10. Thirty-eight teams entered for the grade championships, being «ix more than the previous yes'. A crreit deal of interest was shown in school hockey, five teams talcing nart in *he A grade and four in the B. Stanley Bay won both grades. The school has the record of winning both grades for two years in succession. The Australian ton- was a great success, anart from the fart that New Zealand won 11 out of 12 matches played
