The first demand was for £335,000 for land revenue. This was totally rejected by 65 votes to 63, the Swarajists and Nationalists combining against the Government.

They said they had decided to oppose tho whole Budget in view of the refusal of the Government to grant a round table conference, and its failure to release political prisoners and withdraw repressive laws.

The Government's demand for £120,000 for excise was moved by the Minister. This was passed by 65 votes to 64, owing to a Nationalist member deciding" to support the demands made by Ministers, and oppose those made by officials. f

A demand for £95,000 for stamps was rejected by 64 votes to 63. The Assembly then adjourned.
