SHOOTING A CATTLE DOG.
OWNER AWARDED £10.
The shooting of a cattle dog formed the subject of a case heard at the Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. E. C. Out-ten,- S.M., when Thomas Ingham (Mr. B. N. Moody) sued C. W. Jenkinson (Mr Inder) for £25, the value of, a dog belonging to plaintiff which defendant had • destroyed. • It was stated that the parties were neighbouring farmers at Albany. Defendant said ho impounded a number of cattle belonging to another farmer pending arrival of the poundkeeper. This man went on defendant's property with .__ three dogs and attempted to drive away"the cattle. Defendant warned him to call off the dogs and eventually shot one dog which was attempting to herd .the cattle. He was not awaro the • dog belonged to Ingham. Mr... Inder submitted that defendant had been justified in his action and contended that the value of f«he dog had been exaggerated. Judgment was given for plaintiff fear £10.
