ADDITIONS TO BE MADE.
The Auckland City Council met last evening, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, presiding. There were also present: Miss E. Melville, and Messrs. J. A. Warnock, G. Knight, A. B. Lawry, G.'R, Hutchinson, J. Robertson, G. G. Macindoe, F. W. Brinsden, T. Bloodworth, J. A. C. Allum, J. W. Hardley, M. J. Bennett, J. B. Paterson, A. Thompson, C. H. Furness, T. T. Garland, J. Donald, and A- J. Entrican.
Owing to the inadequacy of the Epsom branch library, it was decided to provide in the forthcoming estimates for the expenditure of £550 on additions. It is proposed to rebuild the front wall 9ft. nearer the street," and by effecting various interior alterations, to enlarge the lending department, the reading room, and the children's room.
Repairs to the amount of £96 were ordered to be carried out to the roof of the Art Gallery, in Kitchener Street, which was showing signs of. wear caused by contraction. On the recommendation of the Library Committee it was decided to issue a fresh catalogue for the Art Gallery, the present issue being almost exhausted.
It was decided to advertise the vacancy for the position of librarian at the Grey Lynn library, at a commencing salary of £130.
