THE TWO RIFLE MEETINGS.
PROPOSED CO-OPERATION.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.'] '."'.. TRENTHAM. Thursday.
At the annual meeting of the National Rifle Association last evening a protracted discussion ensued on a suggestion by Mr. C. M. Moss, of Dunedin, that some working arrangement be made with the Defence Department so that one combined meeting could be held. Ha moved : ''That an endeavour be made to induce the Minister to run the army and National Association meetings in conjunction next year."
: Objection was raised that this would mean that competitors would be required to use two distinct types of rifle at the meeting. The motion was eventually rejected in favour of a recommendation that the two associations cooperate in carrying out future programmes, but that the National Association retain its distinctive identity.
