CONSUMPTION OF WATER.
LARGE QUANTITIES USED. ENFORCING RESTRICTIONS. No relief from the restrictions on the use of hoses in the city can, expected at present, according to a statement made yesterday by the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunson. If! was mentioned that the restrictions were observed in all the municipal parks and reserves, and any consumer found using hoses would have his hose supply disconnected. t The consumption of water for general purposes has been very heavy during the last few weeks,'and the demand on some days has exceeded fho Waitakere pipe capacity. . The greatest consumption for any one day this year was on Monday, when • 8,514,000 gallons -were used. ' Of this total, 1,00 C,OOO gallons were pumped, from Western Springs. Regular tests of the Western Springs water are taken, and the quality■■ of the water continues to be good. About 7,500,000 gallons of water are daily pumped from Waitakere, and; the remaining quantify» required is brought from Western Springs..
