A USEFUL HOLIDAY.

Craig, Ltd., and was in charge of Lieutenant R. A. Woods, R.N.R., who was assisted by Chief Petty-Officers H. Mills and Aspey, of the H.M.S. Philomel.
The party of 29 Sea Scouts left Auckland on December 22 and proceeded to Coromandel, The vessel then visited To Kume, Parkihi Island, Kawau, Mullet Point, Waiwera and Mahurangi in turn-' Throughout the cruise naval routine and discipline was observed, and classes were held on board under the supervision of the officers for the purpose of instructing the scouts in seamanship. The party went ashore at each of the places visited and engaged in games and signalling. The weather experienced during the cruise was generally fine although the wind was too light for fast sailingNevertheless the sea scouts displayed great enthusiasm throughout the trip, and it was with considerable reluctance that they returned to the moorings In the harbour. The officers of the troop war© highly satisfied with the conduct of tho juvenile crew, and they consider that apart from the healthful nature of the holiday, the cruise alTorded the scouts unrivalled opportunities to become efficient in seamanship.
