Upton from the board of directors of the Bank of'v- New ' Zealand has been' announced. ; Mr. Upton, who returned . yesterday from" a meeting of the board it Wellington, stated that at the conclusion of his present term, on March 31, 1624, he would not again accept nomination for the,, directorate. Owing to advancing years the frequent journeys to and from Wellington were now too great a tadc . on him. That was the sole reason for lis retirement. He had communicated his decision to his fellow directors some time
ago. ■•■.v-v Mr. Upton, who is one of the nominees of the Government on thai board, will have served eleven years on the directorate at the expiration of his present term.
