INJURY TO A MINER.

SQUEEZED BY A CAGE. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN COBRESPONDETIT.] ; WAim. Saturday. Mr. Daniel Simpson, chamber-man at the Waihi Grand Junction mine, met ■with a painful • accident last evening. After the cage had been used for lowering timber Mr. Simpson was adjusting the king pin, when the cage was area on him. Another man, seeing Mr. Simpson's predicament, immediately, jumped to the signal apparatus to stop the cage, but it was not stopped in time to prevent Mr. Simpson being squeezed. When the cage was raised and Mr. Simpson was lifted out he was found to be suffering severely from injuries to his back and right leg. Ho was attended by 'Dr. Short and sent to the hospital.
