IMPERIAL AMALGAMATION.
LARGE ISSUE OF DEBENTURES. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Doc. 6. The consolidation of the British zinc industry comprises ; the Swansea and Avonmouth zinc properties, with the preponderating interest in the Burma Corporation under the aegis of the directors of Baldwins, Ltd., the British Metal Corporation, and prominent Australian mining and metallurgical interests. The amalgamation is the last step in the policy initiated by the Imperial and Australian Governments to make the Empire self-supporting in zinc concentrates. The purchase . price for the interests acquired is £2,300,000. The directors of the National Smelting Company, will include representatives of Baldwins, Ltd.. the British Metal Corporation, and the Australian interests, making an exceptionally powerful board both in personnel and financially. The company proposes to issue 'at an early date £1,500,000 of 7 • per cent, debentures at 99.
