The Public Works -Department, has issued two circulars to its engineers and to local bodies drawing attention to possible risk to New Zealand by th® introduction of Australian wood-boring pests through the medium of hardwood timbers imported into the country. Methods by which the presence of these destructive insects may be detected are set out, and the importance of immediately burning all loose bark, in whicki they lurk, is emphasised,.
