Evidence was given that the accused, who had frequently- been an inmate of the hospital during the last, sir months, stayed at Mrs. Quinn's boarding-house. The brooch was missed from. its biding place. A fishmonger named Babich said he gave accused £15 for the la-ooch. "I pinched the brooch because I haven't long to live and I wanted to make a welter of it," said accused, who admitted the theft and added tnat he spent the £15 on beer, tajis and medical expenses. He was committed for sentence. ■
