SCHOOL PRIZE-GIVINGS.

MAORI GIRLS AND BOYS.

The annual prizegiving of the Queen Victoria School for Maori Girls took place at the school yesterday afternoon, the prizes being presented by Bishop Averill. Following is the list of prize-winners:— tipper sixth form—Roma Greaves lower sixth: Korepai Holland; class five: Alice Robinson; lower school: Bella McGee; Scripture prizes Tona Fraser. Nukuini Fraser. Hinatanci WicklifTe. Mereana Patene: cooking: Iwi Wikaira. Nahiti Turei: sowing: Louie Sly. _ Charlotte Harris, Lucy Hoko; laundry: Hilda Savage; good conduct: Taarei Trainor; greatest 'improvement: Amelia Crawford: general excellence: Tera Paehua; dux for 1923: Maria Hay; dux for 1919 Margaret Ross. Afternoon tea was served on the lawn. In the evening an entertainment was held, the proceeds being in aid of the scholarship fund. The annual prize-giving ceremony of St. Stephen's School for Maori Boys took place in the St. Mary's parish hall. The chairman of the trust board, Mr. A. B. Roberton, presiding. He congratulated the staff on the successful year's work. Bishop Averill, in presenting the prizes, expressed the hope that the boys would always remember thai they were St. Stephen's boys. Tbev would thus do the greatest possible credit to their school, their race and their church. A burst of applause greeted the bishop's remark that he was sure the whole neighbourhood of the school would go into mourning if the school were moved from Parnell.
