FINANCIAL BAROMETER.

POSITION IN NEW ZEALAND.

BETTER THAN FOR YEARS. [«Y TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESI ,, .] HAMILTON. Friday. " The financial position of the country has not been better than it is to-day for some years'," said the Hon. R. F. Bollard, Minister for Internal Affairs, at Raglan yesterday. - Mr. Bollard '•■ referred to thecauses of the past depression and remarked that the high prices now being realised for butter-fat were making the farmers happier than they have been for some lane. New Zealand's finance was largely controlled by the Old Country, the Minister added, and if Mr. Stanley Baldwin, the British Prime Minister, were successful at the forthcoming elections, New Zealand would derive greater benefit in many ways than it did to-day. London was New Zealand's great market, and although some people considered New Zealand should not be absolutely dependent on. that market, he considered that the London market should receive first consideration from producers.
