REQUEST FOR COMMISSION.
The appointment of a Boyal Commission to adjudicate on the question of the increased ferry charges proposed by the Auckland Harbour Board was advocated at a meeting of the Marine Boroughs' Asgbiation last evening. Gould, Mayor of Takapuna, moved that the four North Shore boroughs be recommended to make joint petition to the Governor-General and the Minister for Marine praying that an inquiry be held into the reasonableness or otherwise of the proposed increased ferry and vehicular wharfage charges, and that the Governor exercise his statutory power to disallow the Harbour Board's by-law. Mr. Gould said only an inquiry bv competent adjudicators would satisfy the North Shore people.
