A. and N.Z. LONDON. Nov. 4. Mr. J. 11. Clynes, Labour M.P., speaking at Sunderland, said that Labour was indebted to Mr. Stanlev Baldwin for hastening the advent of a Labour Government, for if Mr. Baidv/in were empowered to practice his new protection its failure to cure unc-nplovment, which was an absolute certainty, would produce a national reaction against the futility of Toryism, and would bring Labour into office. Labour recognised that free trade had not prevented unemployment., but protection would cause more of it, as the Anti Dumping Act showed. Trade no longer followed the flag, but the current of international amity.
