At" the annual meeting of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming • Association a letter was received from the Sydenham Club, tendering its resignation, as the club was going out of existence. The chairman said that it was a pity that an old-established club like Sydenham should have to go out of existence. ' , - < Mr. D. Good: The whole trouble is that the baths are in a bad condition.. There are dead cats- in it. Mr. C. Kent: I am certain there are not. . The chairman: I hardly think our friend's remark is in order. ; / Mr. Good: It is quite true. There are dead cats at the bottom of the baths with bricks tied round their necks. (Laughter). Mr. Atkinson moved that the resignation of the club be not accepted. The motion was carried.
