THE YALE TELESCOPE.
TESTS IN AUCKLAND.
APPARATUS' RECEIVED.
. A further consignment of fittings to complete the experimental telescope forwarded by the authorities of Yale University was received yesterday by the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunson. The fittings have been handed to , the members of the Auckland - Astronomical Society to, enable them to cany out the tests desired by the university to determine finally the suitability of the Auckland conditions. These tests, which are preliminary to the erection of the 26in. I telescope that the Yale authorities desire ! to establish in the Southern hemisphere, ! are expected to take about four months. I The Mayor will report fully at the meet- ! ing of the City Council this evening on j the negotiations which have been proceed- ? ing between the council and the Yale authorities.
