DAIRY ACT POLL CLOSES. VOTES' PARTIALLY COUNTED. 6199 FOR: 1600 AGAINST. [by telegraph.—-own CORRESPOND "WELLINGTON. .Wednesday.'' ■ Tho poll of■;' suppliers to the dairy factories throughout , New Zealand regarding Che operation of the Dairy 'Export Control AcC closed ' to-day. Although there were 56.000 suppliers enrolled only 51,768 had their } votes in the hands of the returning officer by the ; time at which the poll closed. :::; : .' ; .';-. ; <~- . A straight-out issue was put before the dairy farmers in ; , the • postal ■ ballot : : Were they, or were they notj, in favour of the Export. Act coming into operation? The returning officer, Mr. G. G. Hodgkins, commenced counting' the votes -at noon. By 11 p.m. when work ceased for the night, the progress count was in favour of the Act, for which 6199 votes were recorded as against 1600 against the Act, the majority in favour of the scheme thus being 4199. J The counting of the papers is expected to be finished on Friday evening.
