Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 1.5 a.m.) LONDON. Oct. 2. A Paris telegram announces the death of Count Mattacbich, who eloped in 1897 with Princess Loui3e, daughter of King Leopold 11., of Belgium. The Paris correspondent of the Daily Chronicle states that Count Mattachich anS his wife recently travelled the Continent and arrived at /Paris a month ago incognito. The Princess remained with the Count to the end, true to the vow they took when years ago they braved the Royal Courts of Vienna, Brussels, and Berlin. - The Princess, now heartbroken, retains at the age of 65 some; of the majesty and nobleness of demeanour which formerly made her one of the beauties of Europe. She says, I have nothing to live for. Ho was my life. .1 am without friends or money, and do not know what will become j, of me." It is understood the Belgian Court made .many offers to the Princess conditional on her leaving the Count, and now offers enough to, enable her to spend her closing days in comfort. ;'.,: '
