The president, -i Mr.' J;;; W. Shaw, M.A., presided, and during ; the '.; evening :"; was invested' with a new chain of office by Mr,. John r Arneil, immediate s past ; president. The musical programme was contributed to by the Society's pipe band, Miss; Molly Jackson, Miss '->;.D:% Hislop; i:Mr. : V. s E. Elliott, and. : Mr. W. Dunstan, whrle v tho dancing} of Miss Adelia Davis,' and, Miss Irene ; Langly was>; warmly «■ applauded. Mrs. Arthur .Brockie .and { Mr. W. H. Johnston'-acted -as.-.;;accompanists;;;; The president extended a' welcome to several new arrivals .from" Scotland, ; and afterwards' gave a. humourous Scottish reading, - which : -'.', was .received with enthusiasm. Supper and dancing',brought;. a successful evening to a close. - , : ~ •
