LITTLE GIRL IN BATH. PALLS INTO THE WATER ACCIDENT AT HOSPITAL. [»* TELEGKAPH.—OWN y CORRESPONDENT ] • . " HAMILTON. Saturday. The death occurred in the :• '-■ Waikato Hospital last evening .■ of ;*>:., little girl, Marjory Weston, aged seven years, the daughter of Mr. - W. M. Weston, of Huntly. The child and her sister were convalescent scarlet fever patients .in the < isolation ward of the hospital, and on Friday evening €he deceased and two other child- j ren aged 15 .and 10 years respectively, , were told by a nurse to bathe themselves before retiring. The - hot :; water : was turned on in the bathroom, and -the two, elder girls left the room for a momen£. On their return they found the deceased lyinjr in the bath fully clothed with the hot water running. She was •' severely scalded and it appeared thatf ; she had overbalanced and fallen into the water. _ The child was conscious yesterday, butt her condition was very serious and her injuries proved fatal early in the evening. An inquest was opened to-day before the coroner, Mr. Young. Evidence _was given by the medical superintendent 'of the hospital, to the effect' that ; : : it was customary for the children • to prepare their own bath, and under these circumstances he did not think that the nurse could be seriously blamed . for allowing the youn? girl to' enter the bathroom without an attendant. The inquest was adjourned sine die. '■;
