The newspaper, La Rascn, states that the President of Argentina has asked the Senate to authorise, an expenditure of 155,000,000 gold pesos v (£531,000,000) to modernise the Argentine Army. A high army official told the newspaper that efforts to limit armaments in South America had failed, arid Argentina found herself almost disarmed, compared with adjoining! nations. It is intended to equip the army thoroughly on the most modern lines. • • "
