NORTH COTE DRAINAGE.
THE PLAN COMPLETED. OUTFALL NEAR THE POINT. The preliminary surveys in connection with the North cote sewerage scheme have been completed by the drainage engineer, Mr. F. £. Powell, and the plan has been deposited in the Council Chambers for the inspection of ratepayers and property owners. Notices to owners through whose j properties the main sewers will pass ai'o being sent out, with a. view to objections being made, if so desired. The plan shows that in many instances the original ideas a3 to the line oi pipes has been departed from. The alterations are expected to reduce the total cost of the j scheme.. , Greater 'use is to be made' of ! the streets for the line of pipes, so that ' interference with private properties has been considerably reduced. According to the present plan, the Jiole outfall will be into the tidal water east of Stokes' Point, and as the discharge 'will only be at the ebb tide, the effluent from tho septic tanks will be carried down--1 harbour in a rapid current.
