CHRISTIAN REUNION.
: Sir,As the sermon, to which the congregation of St. Mary's Cathedral had the privilege of listening ,on ' Sunday evening May 20 appears to he the subject of a fair amount of controversy, might I suggest that it was an earnest attempt to grapple with the situation. Might I also mention the fact, that included :in the congregation were persons who belong neither to St. Mary's parish nor to the denomination of which that church happens to occupy the most prominent place. These non-members were present because they looked- upon the vicar as genuine in his desire to bring about this muchdesired reform. Now St. Mary's Church, despite her prestige, does not ostensibly bother about the ritualistic .rubbish which appears: to take pride of place in some other churches in this city and elsewhere. Consequently this apneal to reunion is backed up by something more than a verbal invitation. Let the other Anelican churches; come down from their pedestals, dispense with some of the ecclesiastical fireworks, and then possibly the d'ssenting churches;; will . interpret their Episcopalian brethen's appeal as being more sincere. The only point upon which I could not agree with Canon James was his idea of the futility of interchanging pulpits, but were reunion 'm actuality, instead of a dream, the reverend gentleman would possibly waive Ilia scepticism in that direction. ..
