I The annual roeoting of the Tauranga Harbour Board was held j to-day; ,;'.'••'" :.■ Tho ; Secretary of tho Marine Department telegraphed "that the Govornwv General had appointed Mr. .G. A. Ward, of Tauranga, and Mr. A. Montgomery, of To Puke, as members of the board. The only change in the personnel of the board was ' Mr. Montgomery, who replaces Mr. R. King, who had acted a* chairman for the past five years. Mr. D. Grant, of Paengaroa, was unanimously elected chairman of the board, Mr. f J;' : ;G. Green ' being elected deputy-chairman. : Tho > v chairman's honorarium .for tho .■ year was fixed at £75. '"' . .--.;..- Tlie board adopted a motion placing on record its appreciation of the : valuable services rendered by Mr. King. \ The board voted £2 10» toward th« funds of the Bay of Plenty Development League. The chairman was apItointod the board's delegate to the eague. ,'/_':. : \ ■ -■■'•; .''.'.'•'."; Tho harbourmaster was requested to report upon tho matter of the shallows at tho mangroves,: which is part th« navigating course between Matakana Island and the mainland. -.-■„„ .'" ■ The board's engineers were instructed to prepare detail plans of the Tauranga railway wharf and approaches for . submission to the board. • Matters concerning the raising of a loan of £50,000 in connection with- harbour improvement works were discussed and referred to the Finance Committee. Authority was granted to -Mr. W. Marshall to build a slipway and wharf on the northern portion of the Tauranga peninsula at a rental of £20 annually. The engineers submitted particulars of the proposed servico jetty at Pilot Bay, which is to be constructed in connection with the transport of stone for harbour works. Tho approximate cost is £1500.
