REGULATION OF SHIPMENTS. REDUCTION IN FREIGHTS. [BY TKIEGRAPH.—PRESS*" ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. A progress report of the work of the Meat Producers' Board presented to tho I Dominion executive of the Farmers' Union I to-night was declared by the chairman, Mr. G. W. Leadley, of Ashburton, to be very satisfactory. I The report stated that the . elimination of small parcels had resulted in. improvement of conditions of discharge and delivery. The number of softened carcases and torn and dirty wrappers caused through excessive handling had been reduced. The regulation of shipments was i very directly related to the state of mar- | kets. Shipments from November to April thi.= year were 2,757,941 carcases, against 3,181,530 for the same period last year. Negotiations with the shipping companies had resulted in the companies agreeing to a reduction in beef freights which meant about 7s 6d per head. The reduction in pork freights had secured most gratifying results. The exports !of pork in the current season totalled I 19,518cwt. against 2169cwt. last year.
