"THE GARDEN OF GOD."

ROMANCE OF THE PACIFIC. From skyline to skyline, the blue Pacific desolate beneath the sun, and in the midst of that picture a dinghy containing the forms of a youth and a maid, both dead, the arms of tho girl still holding a living child! Here is the foundation for one of those absorbing romances of the Islands that H. de Vere Stacpoole writes, and he has written a brilliant new serial story, " The Garden of God," the opening chapters of which appear in the Herald supplement this,- morning. The long surge breaking on the coral reef, the busy life beneath the waters of -the great lagoon, the soft tracery of tropic foliage against azure skies, form a aeries of vivid mind pictures, as one follows the author through the chapters of this splendid ro mance, which commences with the finding of the dinghy by the s.s. Raratonga. With graphic pen he portrays many delightful scenes that form so fit a setting for the long story that develops in the beautiful island called " The Garden of God."
