EXTENSION OF LONDON.
ROYAL COMMISSION OPPOSED
CENTRALISATION TOO COSTLY
A. and N.Z. 'LONDON. March 21. The Royal Commission on Government of London reports adversely on the London Countv Council scheme to bring the surrounding districts into the centralised governing body. The report states that this would increase the cost of administration, and that no sufficient reasons were adduced for altering the areas or present constitution of the London County Council. It recommends that the various authorities should reconsider the distribution of functions between them, and that steps should be taken to amalgamate some of the smaller local government districts.
