FARMERS' UNION ADVOCACY
An interesting account of the recent tour made by a delegation of the Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union to the Bay of Plenty was given by the president, Mr. E. D. Duxfield, at a meeting of the executive last evening. The tour, he said, had been very successful. Mr. A. A.- Ross said the tour had brought the Bay of Plenty into touch with what was being done by the Farmers' Union Executive. They had been amazed at the amount of land still to be developed in that district. Mr. J. S. Thompson moved That this executive urge on the Government the necessity for the utmost expedition in connecting up the East Coast Main Trunk line from Tauranga to Waihi; also, that in the interests of the southern part of the Bay of Plenty, and of the Dominion generally, a survey be immediately made rom Taneatua to Opotiki, with the object .of pushing a line through to Opotiki with the utmost speed." ' The motion was carried unanimously.
