INTERPRETATION OF AWARD
ANNUAL HOLIDAY QUESTION.

The Arbitration Court had before it to-day a question whether the annual holiday provided for in an award was for a six day or seven day week. The Canterbury Freezing Workers' award specifies an annual holiday of one week on full pay. Mr. Nial, who asked the question, said the men worked on seven days, but not seven full days, and contended that companies in * some cases were evading the terms of the award. '.';' Mr. Sanderson (for the employers) contended that in the case of greasers and firemen " full pay " must be interpreted to mean the full amount of pay they ordinarily receive had they worked « usual, namely, six days' pay for six watches per week, and seven days' pay for seven watches.
