MOUNT ALBERT BOROUGH.
The Woiwit Albert Borough Council met last evening, tb<> Mayor, Mr. A. F. Bennett presiding. There were also present: Messrs. R. J. Allingham, R. 11. Armstrong, E. S. Inwood, A. J. Jenkin O. R. Metcalfe, H. A. Miles, L. E. Rhodes, and A. M. Wilson. Mr. L. E. Rhodes moved that a committee be appointed: (1) To obtain details of revenue, expenditure, and works done in the borough generally, and in C ward in particular, and to ascertain by whom and on what authority works not recorded on the minutes have been authorised. (2) To investigate methods used in recording costs and works done, and to make any recommendations which might suggest themselves for improving these methods. After discussion the motion was carried and referred to the council as a committee.
A deputation of residents of Cromwell Street requested that the council should take steps to improve the street, which was stated to be in a very unsatisfactory state. It was pointed out that the footpath had been so laid that it turned all the water into the sections instead of on to the road, and there was long grass at both sides of the path. The deputation was assured that the council would favourably consider the matter.
