STOREMEN AND PACKERS.
CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS.
COURT* TO DECIDE WAGES.
A dispute filed by the Auckland Store- | men and Packers' Union was considered | by a conciliation council meeting yesteri day, the commissioner, Mr. P. Hally, j presiding. The assessors for the union j were Messrs. H. Dyson, W. Millar, and j H. L. Horning, those for the employers l being Messrs. E. C. Turner, G. R. Hutchinson, and W. R. Ellingham, with Mr. S. E. Wright as advocate. Settlement was arrived at on all points in dispute, with the. exception of a clause j relating to the wages of 'adult workers. i This particular clause was referred to the j Arbitration Court on the recommendation of both parties, on tho ground that a j number of awards in this particular inI dustry are on the eve of expiration, and j it is thought desirable that the Court i should make a pronouncement on the i matter.
The hours remain as they are, 44 a week. Under the clause in dispute the wages now given are £4 5s and £3 15s a week, the union asking for an increase to £4 15s and £4 ss.
