OPOTIKI DISTRICT.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OPOTIKI. Tuesday. Exceptionally dry weather is prevailing here, and" farmers whoso crops were very late have been able to finish their harvesting with some very bright, fine samples. The maize crops are looking splendid, and everything points to there being a very fine season for maize. Although the weather, is very dry the supplies to the dairy factories are keeping-, up well. In the Waiotahi district there is abundance of feed, and the cheese factory there is kept going at top pressure. Payments for butter-fat at the Waiotahi factory average Is 6d for the season, and with the present healthy tone of the cheese market it looks a? if there will be a substantial bonus to come at the end of the season. The company's policy throughout has been that of consigning, and although many tempting offers have been received, they have been turned down.
