NEW ZEALAND DISPLAY.
PROGRESS OF COLLECTION.
The Auckland British Empire Exhibition Committee met, yesterday, Mr. J. A. C. Allum presiding.
A report dealing with the progress made in various directions was received from the Dominion Advisory Council. It was stated that tho Maori Arts and Crafts Committee, in conjunction with the council, had resolved to recommend to the Minister that no Maori troupe should be sent to the exhibition under the aegis of the Government. Films and photographs of all phases of Dominion life wero being secured, each province being dealt with in accordance with a specially-arranged itinerary. The collection of specimens for the mineral exhibit was reported to be well in hand, while the timber and forestry, frozen meat and dairy exhibits were also under consideration. " The general manager of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation was at present in London, and would give attention to the necessary preparations for receiving and storing the exhibit. Arrangements were being made to obtain exhibits from Samoa, Niue and the Cook Islands, and these would probably be housed in a "falo," or Samoan house, in the foreground of the Dominion court. The Education Department was stated to be arranging an exhibit to bo collected from the primary and secondary schools, which promised "to be both interesting and unique. The question of freights and shipping was also dealt with, the committee deciding to ask if the Government would pay freight on all exhibits shipped to Wellington or other port of ..final shipment.
