SOWING CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Saturday For several years New Zealand rowing authorities have been negotiating with the controlling rowing body in Australia with a view to arranging annual rowing championships between Australia and NewZealand. The New Zealand Rowing Association sent a remit to the Australian Championship State Annual Rowing Conference last season outlining proposals by which annual championships which would be held alternatively in Australia and New Zealand, and at which oarsmen from both countries would compete. The remit was not put on the order paper for discussion at the annuel conference held in New South Wales last season, but information has now been received by Mr. Bayfipld, hon, secretary of the New Zealand Rowing Association, from Perth, where the annual conference is to be held this season, stating that the New South Wales Association has given notice of motion to discuss New Zealand's proposals. A further invitation is extended to a representative from New Zealand to be present at the conference,' which will open about May 5, and place the New Zealand point of view before the conference. It is understood that the council of the New Zealand Rowing Association wiji made an effort to send a delegate in response to the invitation.
