V.R.C. AUTUMN MEETING. KING'S PLATE DAY. HARVEST KING BEATS CYPHER. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE. March 10. The Victoria Racing Club's Autumn Meeting was concluded to-day, and the weather being fine there was a large attendance at Fleonington. The opening event was the GibsonCarmichael Stakes, in which an outsider in the shape of Sistine scored. The winner was always well placed, and narrowly defeated the early leader, Quinitus. The winner was bred by her owner, Mr. Fred Norman. In the decision of tha Leonard Stakes, All Gold led for a good part of the journey and won handsomely from 16 opponents in lm. 145., which is a record for the race. All Gold ran fourth in the Newmarket 'Handicap. W. Johnstone, who steered All Gold, rode four winners at the meeting. All Gold is engaged in the Doncaster Handicap. The field for the King's Plate was reduced to a trio of contestants. The, four-year-old Harvest King answered all demands and won easily from The Cypher. Harvest King was always in front over the last mile, and ho was timed to run th» concluding four furlongs in 49is. Harvest King is to be entrained to Sydney on Tuesday with a view to fulfilling engagements at the Australian Jockey Club's Mooting. Harvest King is engaged in the bydney Cup. In the Northcote Handicap contest Lutcplayer led to the distance, but Happy Queen ait him down in the race to the post. Happy Queen, who is owned by Mr. Phillip Russell, a committeeman of the Victoria Racing Club, was tried at the stud, and proved a failure. The Farewell Handicap went to Basingwold, who carried 9st. 41b. to victory. The winner was ridden by F. Dempsey. The Racing.
