EXPLOSION AT GASWORKS.

SEVENTEEN MEN INJURED. FUMES OVERCOME FIREMEN. United Service. LONDON. March 5. Seventeen men were severely injured by an explosion at Saltley gasworks in Birmingham. A metal flange weighing a ton and a-half was blown 130 yds., and crashed through a stout roof. Firemen fought the fire for four hours, many being overcome by the gas fumes.
