DRUNKENNESS IN RUSSIA.
WAGES PAID IN VODKA. Australiaa and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 4 The Riga correspondent of the Daily Mail, states that the fortnight before Lent was celebrated in Russia by feasting and drinking this year. Owing to the Soviet presses being unable to supply enough money for the payment of workers in the nationalised factories, all State institutions paid overdue wages in vodka. This resulted in extensive dninkeness throughout Russia, and thousands were arrested.
