EIGHTY-ONE APPLICANTS.
MR. BUSH HEADS THE LIST.

SYDNEY. Feb. 23.
The City Council considered 81 applications for the post of city" surveyor, and reduced the number to 13 by a ballot of the aldermen. Mr. Walter E. Bush, Auckland city engineer, headed the list with 15 votes. Inquiries are being made whether the remaining applicants are returned soldiers.
