FATAL IGNORANCE.
IMPROPER FOOD FOR INFANT. DEATH BY MALNUTRITION. [by TEXEGRAPK.-OWN CORRESPONDED.] HAMILTON. Friday, [At an inquest concerning the death 'of & three-months-old child, the son of Joseph and Dorothy Gray, of Whatawfcata Road, medical evidence was given that the food administered to the child as described in the mother's evidence was quite improper for .an infant of that age; Had the child been attended to in tins# its life might have been saved. In hep evidence the mother said that she had . not thought there was need,to call in a doctor or take the baby to- t Plunket nurse, but would have gone to the latter had she known such treatment was free. Her husband was a labourer, and they could not afford any expense not absolutely necessary. The coroner returned a verdict that death was due to malnutrition due to' iscorrect feeding, attributable to ignorant* on the part of the parents.
