G. ♦McKellir, who has just' returned from a tour of England and the -Continent. During his tour.hew spent about, 17 weeks motoring on the [■ Continent. .. . r p |s ; " I found Germany more prosperous ; than England, and there was no sign of unemployment," said Mr. McKellir. "The children were well clothed and shod. The farmer is better off than below j the war, but the city man is not. Every- • one was at work. I noticed large altera- ,■ tions in the railway system . outside Cologne, including expensive new- traffic ; bridges not necessary before or during the war- There were new houses at ; Bonn and Coblenz, costing in our money about £8000 each; new concrete-roofed.; aero hangars a,fc Frankfort, and the German staff officers could travel in > new motor-cars, but there is nothing avaijabi' for reparation money." ' . ' Living was cheaper in Germany' thai elsewhere, Mr. McKellir added. The purchasing power of the mark in the country was about three or four times what itl exchange value would indicate,
