MORRINSVILLE NEWS.
BOROUGH DRAINAGE LOAN. (BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MORRINSVILLE, Friday. The Morrinsville Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor. Mr. F. J. Marshall, presiding. The clerk reported that the rate to be struck in connection with the £16,000 drainage loan for the inner area would bo in the £; for the £1000 loan for the outer area, 3-16 d in tho £. It was decided to hold a public meeting before the poll is taken, to explain the proposals to ratepayers. The- Mayor was appointed delegate to represent the council at a conference of local bodies to be held shortly -with the ' object of organising opposition to the Thames Harbour Board £60,000 loan proposal. A programme of road improvement for tho next few months was approved, and tendors are to be called for the carting of the first 2000 yds. of road metal. .> The chairman of tho Morrinsville School Committee, Mr. B. Chapman, has received the following telegram from the Hon. C. J. Parr, in connection with the establishment of a High School at Morrinsville:—" I have to-day discussed this matter with 'ifcho Auckland Education Board, and have agreed to a threemonths* trial being given on the definite understanding that if the attendance is not maintained tho school will be closed immediately. If the numbers are kept up it will of course bo permanent. A special meeting of the Morrinsville School Committee has been called to discuss the question.
